Rules & Regulations

GENERAL RULES THAT APPLY TO ALL CLASSES:

  1. MUST OPERATE TRUCK IN A SAFE MANNER AT ALL TIMES - ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY! This includes the use of any alcohol or drugs.
  2. Must register your entry with SOTTPA prior to registration deadline published for the event.
  3. SOTTPA officials' decisions are final.
  4. All trucks must weigh in and stage in designated area.
  5. Tractors are permitted to enter a maximum of 2 classes per event.
  6. No passengers allowed on participating vehicles while in the staging lane or on the pulling track.
  7. Drivers must be at least 15 years old.
Modified Diesel 4x4:
  1. All trucks must be a 1 ton or smaller OEM chassis.
  2. The body must be an OEM truck body. The body and truck bed must retain full factory exterior sheet metal. The body must retain OEM unaltered wheelbase. Metal aftermarket hoods are permitted. Fibreglass is prohibited. The hood must be closed and securely latched while the vehicle is hooked to the sled. The complete OEM firewall and complete OEM floor pan is mandatory. Front bumpers are mandatory; Ranch hand style and others are permitted. Rear Bumpers mandatory; Rear roll pans are allowed. Rear bumper/roll pan may be notched for hitch.
  3. Engine must be available from manufacturer in one ton or smaller chassis. Engines will be allowed to cross manufacturer's lines. (A Ford may run a Cummins, etc.) Block and Head must circulate coolant freely. Water pumps may be electric or factory. All factory belt driven accessories, excluding air conditioner compressor and water pump must be retained and powered via the crankshaft by a standard serpentine or v b Cylinder head must be OEM or OEM replica for brand of engine. Head must retain factory OEM valve angle. No deck plates permitted.
  4. Trucks may run DOT approved or cut tires.
  5. The hooking point must be the rear most point on the vehicle. The hitch must be horizontal to the ground and stationary in all directions hooked to the frame no further ahead than the centre of the rear axle. The hitch's height from the ground must not exceed 26 inches (measured at top of hitching device). The hooking point must have a minimum 3.50 inch inside diameter opening for the sled hook.
  6. Truck weight to be 8000 pounds or less.
  7. Ballast is permitted. All added weight must be secured in bed of truck or front mount hanging tractor style weight. Hanging weights may not extend more than 60 inches from the centreline of the front axle. Weight boxes are permitted. No ballast/added weight in the cab area.
  8. An OEM-style suspension is mandatory. Traction bars and devices are permitted; they must be bolt on only; welds are permitted for attachment to frame or axle housing. Control arms may be strengthened or replaced, provided all original mounting points are retained. Strut tower braces, lower tie bars, sway bars, limit straps, and camber kits are permitted. All rear suspensions must use at least one shock absorber and leaf spring per wheel. Airbag spring assistance is permitted; airbag compressors must be disconnected. Solid suspension is permitted.
  9. Any fuel injection pump is permitted.
  10. Aftermarket single turbo up to 76mm (3.0") inducer permitted (no compounds).
  11. Aftermarket intake and exhaust exiting through the hood are permitted.
  12. Single programmer or tuner are permitted.
  13. Water injection permitted on vehicles. No NOS, Propane, Methanol, or Alcohol injection permitted.

Modified Diesel 4x4 Safety Equipment: Everything listed below is required on all trucks.

  1. Fire extinguisher: 2.5 lb. fire extinguisher must be securely mounted within reach of driver.
  2. U-joint shields: All trucks must have at least six inch wide u-joint shield around the rear u-joint constructed of at least 5/16 inch steel or 3/8 aluminum that will safely contain the u-joint and the end of the driveshaft. All shields must be securely mounted to vehicle. Any front shaft u-joints that can be visibly seen from side of truck must be shielded to contain the u-joint and the end of the driveshaft.
  3. Safety switch: Safety switch (rain cap or guillotine) must shut off air to diesel engines. Switch will be securely mounted to back of vehicle. A 2 inch or bigger solid ring must be attached to end of switch. Ring must be zip tied to switch bracket. Switch must also be able to be activated in cab while driver is secured in vehicle.
  4. Manual transmission: SF bell housing or SFI blanket type shield must be used.
  5. Harmonic Balancer - All engines must be equipped with an SF harmonic balancer or dampener. **No belt driven fans**

Hot Stock Diesel 4x4:

  1. All trucks must be an OEM 1 ton or smaller chassis & full body, engine must be available from manufacturer in one ton or smaller chassis.
  2. All trucks must run DOT approved tires.
  3. All trucks shall pull from a Reece style hitch with a maximum height of 21 inches at the hook point, and the hook point must be the furthest point rearward on the truck.
  4. Truck weight to be 8500 pounds or less.
  5. Hanging weights are permitted, Hanging weights may not extend more than 60 inches from the centreline of the front axle. No weights in cab, added weight in the bed of the truck must be secured.
  6. An OEM-style suspension is mandatory. Traction bars and devices are permitted; they must be bolt on only; welds are permitted for attachment to frame or axle housing. Control arms may be strengthened or replaced, provided all original mounting points are retained. Strut tower braces, lower tie bars, sway bars, limit straps, and camber kits are permitted.   7. Fuel injection pump to be stock appearing OEM engine make specific.
  8. Aftermarket single turbo up to 71mm (2.8") inducer permitted (no compounds).
  9. Aftermarket intake and exhaust exiting behind the cab of the vehicle are permitted.
  10. Single programmer or tuner are permitted.
  11. No NOS, Propane, Methanol, or Water injection permitted on any vehicle.

Hot Stock Diesel 4x4 Safety Equipment: Everything listed below is required on all trucks.

  2. All trucks must run DOT approved tires.
  3. All trucks shall pull from a Reece style hitch with a maximum height of 21 inches at the hook point, and the hook point must be the furthest point rearward on the truck.
  4. Truck weight to be 7500 pounds or less.
  5. No hanging weights allowed, No weights in cab, all added weight must be secured in bed of truck only.
  6. Fuel injection pump to appear stock for engine series being used.
  7. Performance upgrades limited to aftermarket intake and exhaust exiting behind the cab of the vehicle.
  8. Single programmer or tuner are permitted.

Stock Diesel 4x4:

  1. All trucks must be an OEM 1 ton or smaller chassis & full body, engine must be available from manufacturer in one ton or smaller chassis.
  2. All trucks must run DOT approved tires.
  3. All trucks shall pull from a Reece style hitch with a maximum height of 21 inches at the hook point, and the hook point must be the furthest point rearward on the truck.
  4. Truck weight to be 8500 pounds or less.
  5. No hanging weights allowed, No weights in cab, all added weight must be secured in bed of truck only.
  6. OEM suspension only.
  7. Fuel injection pump to be stock OEM (as manufactured)equipment only. Lift pumps are permitted.
  8. Stock OEM turbo or aftermarket turbo up to 64mm (2.5") inducer permitted. Compound turbo systems only permitted if stock OEM (as manufactured) equipment only.
  9. Performance upgrades limited to aftermarket intake and exhaust exiting behind the cab of the vehicle.
  10. Single programmer or tuner are permitted.

Out of the Field (>200HP, <200HP):

  1. FWA, dual wheels, articulates are permitted. Any tire size/track permitted.
  2. No loader frames permitted.
  3. No weight restriction. Additional weights must be fixed suitcase style. No tanks/blades/implements permitted.
  4. Engine must be stock block for that model tractor with stock style head, intake and exhaust systems.
  5. No Water, NOS, Propane, Methanol, or Alcohol injection permitted.
  6. Drawbar height not to be altered from stock.
  7. Drawbar hook opening must be minimum of 3" x 3.75".
  8. Driver must remain seated and signal that the tractor is out of gear when hitching and unhitching from pulling sled. Drivers must obey track flag person at all times.
  9. Tractors can only be entered one time per class.
  10. Tractor class will be determined by manufacturer's advertised HP.

Heavy Modified Tractor (10 500 Ibs.):

  1. No four wheel drive or dual wheels allowed. No larger than 20.8 x38" tire (comparable footprint). No puller tires.
  2. Maximum engine displacement 505 cu. in.
  3. Maximum weight is 10 500 pounds.
  4. P-pump injection pumps are permitted.
  5. Maximum turbo size is 2.75" x 3". Turbos running at maximum size must run SOTTPA sanctioned box turbo (S470).
  6. Water injection is permitted. No NOS, Propane, Methanol, or Alcohol injection permitted.
  7. Electric cooling fans are recommended.
  8. Drawbar height not to exceed 20" with wheelie bars (required).
  9. Drawbar hook opening must be minimum of 3" x 3.75"
  10. RPM is limited to maximum of 3200 RPM SFI (above 2750 RPM must sign waiver).
  11. Driver must remain seated and signal that the tractor is out of gear when hitching and unhitching from pulling sled. Drivers must obey track flag person at all times.
  12. Tractors can only be entered one time per class.
  13. Any alteration of these rules (i.e. displacement, tire size, turbo size, weight) may result in a handicap.

Heavy Stock Tractor (10 000 Ibs.):

  1. No four wheel drive or dual wheels allowed. No larger than 20.8 x 38" tire (comparable footprint). No puller tires.
  2. Maximum engine displacement 410 cu. in.
  3. Maximum weight is 10 000 pounds.
  4. P-pump injection pumps are permitted.
  5. Maximum turbo size is 2.4'x 2.7". Turbos running at maximum size must run SOTTPA sanctioned box turbo (S362).
  6. Water injection is permitted. No NOS, Propane, Methanol, or Alcohol injection permitted.
  7. Electric cooling fans are recommended.
  8. Drawbar height not to exceed 20" with wheelie bars (required).
  9. Drawbar hook opening must be minimum of 3" x 3.75"
  10. RPM is limited to maximum of 3200 RPM SFI (above 2750 RPM must sign waiver).
  11. Driver must remain seated and signal that the tractor is out of gear when hitching and unhitching from pulling sled. Drivers must obey track flag person at all times.
  12. Tractors can only be entered one time per class.
  13. Any alteration of these rules (i.e. displacement, tire size, turbo size, weight) may result in a handicap.

Light Stock Turbo Tractor (6500 lbs.):

  1. No four wheel drive or dual wheels allowed. No larger than 18.4 x 38" tire (comparable footprint). No puller tires.
  2. Maximum engine displacement 380 cu. in.
  3. Maximum weight is 6500 pounds (8500 pounds naturally aspirated).
  4. P-pump injection pumps are permitted.
  5. Maximum turbo size is 2.4'x 2.7". Turbos running at maximum size must run SOTTPA sanctioned box turbo (S362).
  6. Water injection is permitted. No NOS, Propane, Methanol, or Alcohol injection permitted.
  7. Electric cooling fans are recommended.
  8. Drawbar height not to exceed 20" with wheelie bars (required).
  9. Drawbar hook opening must be minimum of 3" x 3.75"
  10. RPM is limited to maximum of 3200 RPM SFI (above 2750 RPM must sign waiver).
  11. Driver must remain seated and signal that the tractor is out of gear when hitching and unhitching from pulling sled. Drivers must obey track flag person at all times.
  12. Tractors can only be entered one time per class.
  13. Any alteration of these rules (i.e. displacement, tire size, turbo size, weight) may result in a handicap.

Light Stock Tractor (6000 & 7000 lbs.):

  1. No four wheel drive or dual wheels allowed. No larger than 18.4 x 38" tire. No puller tires.
  2. Maximum engine displacement 410 cu. in. naturally aspirated.
  3. Engine must be stock block for that model tractor with stock style head, intake and exhaust systems.
  4. Injection pump must be OEM stock appearing for that model with no visible modifications. Oversize injectors and lines are permitted.
  5. Drawbar height not to exceed 18" at point of hitch, or 20" with wheelie bars.
  6. Drawbar hook opening must be minimum of 3" x 3.75"
  7. RPM is limited to 30% over NATPA stock rating; maximum is 3000 RPM.
  8. Driver must remain seated and signal that the tractor is out of gear when hitching and unhitching from pulling sled. Drivers must obey track flag person at all times.
  9. Tractors can only be entered one time per class.

Antique Tractors (4000, 5000, 6000, 7000, 8500, 10 000 & 12 000 Ibs.):

  1. Tractor must be 1973 (45 years) or older, 2 wheel drive, should maintain stock appearance.
  2. Rubber tires: No larger than 18.4 x 38" for 4000-7000 lb. classes, no larger than 20.8 x 38". For 8500 lb. and above, no duals.
  3. Speed limit will be 8 MPH; speed cone will be at half track. If tractor exceeds 8 MPH prior to reaching the speed cone, a horn will sound. If tractor exceeds 8 MPH after the front of the passes the sled, the tractor/driver will be disqualified whether or not a horn sounds.
  4. Any engine of the same manufacturer and number of cylinders as original is allowed. Any updraft carburetor allowed if the number of barrels is the same. Rev limiters allowed. No engine deck plates, no secondary fuel. Must have working governor. Only naturally aspirated tractors permitted.
  5. Diesel or gasoline fueled tractors only. No alcohol fuel allowed.
  6. Drawbar height not to exceed 18" at point of hitch, or 20" with wheelie bars.
  7. Drawbar hook opening must be minimum of 3" x 3.75"
  8. RPM is limited to 30% over NATPA stock rating; maximum is 3000 RPM.
  9. Tractors must have fenders as high as the outer radius of the tire and working brakes at all times.
  10. Driver must remain seated and signal that the tractor is out of gear when hitching and unhitching from pulling sled. Drivers must obey track flag person at all times.
  11. Tractors can only be entered one time per class.
  12. Farm Tractors sold and warranted in North America only. No homemade, experimental, or prototype tractors.
